This recipe is one of my absolute favorite warmer weather side dishes. It is packed full of flavor and it’s so easy to make. Plus, it goes with a variety of main dishes!

But, back to these baked beans with pineapple as they really can be the star of your meal. The beans are chock-full of protein and the bacon, pineapple, and BBQ sauce flavors meld together for a sweet and flavorful mouthful in every bite.

Tips for making Hawaiian Baked Beans

These baked beans cook best in a slow cooker or crockpot. Simply add all the ingredients and forget about them. If you would prefer to not use a slow cooker you could cook them on low for several hours in a dutch oven.

This recipe uses canned pineapple but you could also use fresh if you have it on hand.

Don’t forget the bacon or Worcestshire sauce. The recipe doesn’t call for much of either but they definitely add extra flavor!

  • 1 can pinto beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can pork and beans
  • 1 can pineapple chunks in juice
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients in the bowl of a slow cooker and stir to combine.
  2. Cook on low for 4 to 6 hours or high for 3 hours.
  3. Garnish with chopped green onion (optional).
