I thought it was SHARONA at first (not BAVOVNA) and almost broke out into song. I have a "knack" for misreading things too fast though.

I don’t buy for 1 second that ALL of these commitments (pledges) are being fulfilled by these EU countries. Ukraine would not be THIS desperate for weapons and munitions. How about those million shells Czech’s were suppose to purchase (along with other countries) and supply? Fighter jets? Air Defense? EU countries will wait until we restock there fighters and AD before sending theirs.

It doesn’t really matter that the US economy is larger than the whole of the EU. They have plenty of wealth. That’s like comparing Elon to Bezos. They both have a f*ck ton of money. They have been wildly underspending on military for ever. This war hopefully will wake them the hell up.

Unfortunately it’s also difficult to take any media at face value as it pertains to this war. Everyone is pushing propaganda and narratives.

I fully want Ukraine to beat the hell out of the Russians and push them out of their country. Unfortunately the US and European leaders just want this war to drag on and decay Russia and don’t appear to care about all the lives lost. That’s my opinion anyway.

Ukraine has been so short of supplies and munitions because the EU couldn’t make up the shortfall from the US cutting off support. (Just look at T’s chart.) That’s pretty simple. As for relative wealth, it is absolutely germane to the discussion. We are talking about a collection of countries, each with a fraction of our wealth. The whole “EU isn’t doing it’s part” narrative is simply a lie designed to further Putin’s goals - as well as the goals of certain Ruzzian aligned politicians here in the US.

In a ‘meat grinder’ of a war, Russian and Ukrainian casualties rise

In Ukraine, it’s far from quiet on the eastern front. By the end of the weekend, Ukrainian forces had withdrawn from three villages in the eastern Donetsk region, a tactical retreat that betrays Kyiv’s deeper vulnerabilities. Short of ammunition and fresh troops more than two years into its dogged resistance of Russian invasion, Ukraine finds itself on the back foot as the Kremlin attempts to renew its offensive momentum. Russian forces seized the eastern city of Avdiivka in February and have made further inroads since that success.

“In an attempt to seize the strategic initiative and break through the front line, the enemy has focused its main efforts on several areas, creating a significant advantage in forces and means,” Gen. Oleksandr Syrsky, Ukraine’s top commander, said Sunday, describing a situation that had “worsened.”

Ukraine's 'Harry Potter castle' hit in deadly Russian strike

Five people have been killed and another 23 are being treated in hospital after a Russian missile attack on Ukraine's southern port of Odesa, local officials say.

A building known locally as "Harry Potter castle" was damaged in the strike. It is the residence of prominent former MP Serhiy Kivalov, who was among the wounded.

It houses the Odesa Law Academy, which is run by Mr Kivalov.

Germany delivers Skynex air defense system, Marder vehicles, ammunition to Ukraine

Germany has handed over 10 Marder infantry fighting vehicles, a Skynex air defense system, ammunition for Leopard 2 tanks, IRIS-T SLM air defense missiles, and other aid in its latest aid delivery to Ukraine, the German government said on April 29.

The latest tranche further included over 29,000 rounds for Gepard anti-aircraft systems, 7,500 155 mm artillery shells, 18,000 rounds of 40 mm ammunition, and an unspecified number of 120 mm mortar ammunition.

Berlin also delivered a TRML-4D radar system, six Oshkosh M1070 tank transporters, 3,000 RGW 90 portable grenade launchers, and 100,000 first aid kits.

Ukraine further received a Beaver bridge-laying tank, a Dachs armored engineering vehicle, nine mine-clearing systems, an AMPS protection system for helicopters, 60 outboard motors, 600 LED lamps, almost 2,000 camouflage nets, and 2,000 ponchos.

The German government website also confirmed that the delivery of the third Patriot air defense system is in the works.

The biggest thing now is for Ukraine to figure out how to take out the long-range bombers shooting missiles from standoff platforms. Those guys haven't been hurt at all...the Bears and Backfires (except a few a week ago).

Claims that the US bought 81 Soviet-era combat aircraft from a close Russian ally are likely false, experts say

    * Reports that the US purchased 81 combat aircraft from Kazakhstan are likely false, experts said.

    * They cited Kazakhstan's deep economic ties to Russia and the report's sources.

    * Kazakhstan has denied selling aircraft to Ukraine, saying foreign companies were not allowed to bid.

Reports that the US acquired 81 obsolete Soviet-era combat aircraft from Kazakhstan are likely false, according to military analysts.

On Sunday, the Kyiv Post reported that Kazakhstan had auctioned off 117 Soviet-era fighter and bomber aircraft for a reported fee of one billion tenge, or $2.26 million, of which 81 were purchased by the US.

The outlet cited reports from the Ukrainian Telegram channel Insider UA and the Russian news site Reporter.

The Kyiv Post said the reason for the US purchase was not made public but that the aircraft would "likely" be transferred to Ukraine, which is fighting back against Russia's full-scale invasion.

But Kazspetsexport, Kazakhstan's state-owned weapons importer and exporter, denied selling military airplanes to Ukraine in a later statement, saying that foreign companies were not allowed to bid.

According to Francisco Olmos, a research fellow at The Foreign Policy Center specializing in Central Asian Affairs, it's "very" hard to establish whether the sale actually happened.
