Yes, I am completely serious. We all knew this guy was never boyfriend of the year material, but we didn't care as long as he pitched well. (I defy anybody to honestly disagree and say they wanted him gone before he was actually traded.) I also believe in the principle of innocent until proven guilty, and Bauer's accuser has not only not proven him guilty but has every appearance of lying about the entire story to try to make money off him. So I ask the completely honest, sincere question, "Why should Trevor Bauer not be given another chance at MLB? And if he deserves the presumption of innocence, why would we not want the Tribe to be the one who brings back a frontline starter, likely on minimum salary?"

No thanks. He was given so many opportunities. Cares more about his social media than anything else.

It is my understanding that he is also one of the most disliked players in all of sports. Teammates, coaches, managers, and anyone that knows him, seem to dislike him. I think he had one friend on the team last time. I know this is overlooked if he is really good but obviously, teams don’t think he is worth it at this point.

Tito is one of the most player friendly managers out there, and even he had enough of his antics. He's too much of a narcissist for me.

If Tito was here, he would probably do it. The Indians now? Eh I don't think they would.

And yet we all were pissed off when Albert Belle left in free agency.

I believe you are wrong, though I definitely admit the very real possibility you are right. Would I trade anything of any value for Trevor Bauer? No. Would I pay him $30M a year (or whatever the Dodgers are paying him)? Definitely not. Would I sign the guy to try out on a minimum contract? Absolutely.

Outside of his famed training regimens, Trevor Bauer has a shown to lack self control in other aspects of his life. He’s never seemed to be able to stop using social media and other media outlets to publicly air his grievances, and as many other posters above me have observed that Bauer could not get along with Terry Francona, one of the most well liked and respected men in Major League Baseball.

Not being found guilty isn’t the same as being innocent. He was involved in activities that were inconsistent with the public interest of baseball and conflict with the labor agreement between MLB and the union, the details we don’t need to repeat again. Don’t forget, the union supported all of his suspensions save for the final decision. How often does that happen? And an arbitrator agreed to a suspension equal to about 1.5 years. All of that was in spite of the fact that he wasn’t “guilty”.

And whoever said that Tito would support his signing is just wrong.

He is 33 and hasn’t pitched in several years. Even ignoring all the bad off the field stuff I dont know if he would even still be a good pitcher.

Bauer was outstanding in the Japanese League last year, has had a great spring in Mexico, and just shut down the Yankees scoreless over 3 innings, including throwing 99 mph fastballs. He has definitely not been just sitting home and cashing the Dodgers' checks.

And drones. If he doesn’t cut his finger in the postseason, maybe we hang on against the Cubs.

I would take him in a heartbeat. He is still dedicated to baseball and that is said through his training and study of the game. He would still be a a good middle of rotation pitcher too but he got screwed over.

He dominated in the Japanese league. Not the same but he would do fine as a #2 or #3 and you would not have to pay him a big contract. At this point, if he wanted to comeback he would probably take any offer but a handful of teams would take the risk

I want the Giants to take a chance on him ....

We all get older and we all get wiser.

I think TB with all of his baggage is a different person today ...

But .... he can't hide from perception.

This statement strikes me as plain wrong. There is a presumption of innocence. Moreso, after seeing all the facts, reading the texts from the girl, it clearly seems that Bauer was set up.

MLB's response was to protect its brand, and suspend Bauer pending investigation (by itself and by authorities). But those investigations resulted in no charges, and the suspension lifted. Bauer could have invoked his constitution right (and stayed silent) all along, but he didnt. He was very vocal about his innocence, and he even sued (civil) the accuser.

Court of public perception is another thing. But I think the facts lead to the conclusion that Bauer was wrongfully accused.

Bauer was found guilty of violating the Collective Bargaining Agreement, suspended by MLB for 2 years, and the suspension was upheld and modified by an independent arbitrator selected by both MLB and the MLBPA to about a year and a half.

I said it when he had him and he was pitching at a Cy Young Award level and I will say it now; he is not worth it. Guy is a grade A d*ck. For a young impressionable team like the Guardians he is not even worth the league minimum. For a veteran laden team and a locker that will not hesitate to either put him in his place or show him the door? That is a different story altogether.

Wish he'd come on to pitch after the rain delay in Game 7 right away rather than leaving Shaw in.

I don't see the Guardians of all teams taking a chance on him but I think at some point someone will be desperate enough to sign him maybe. I think he can still pitch and he's willing to play for the minimum but I think nobody wants the attention he'll bring. Jonathon Papelbon offered the Red Sox to pay his salary for them with the stipulation that if it worked out he'd get double back. I can only see it working out with one of the big markets that will overlook the negativity to have him perhaps help them win.
