Mojo Italian Gusto, Fethiye - Pizza Heaven (2024)

Mojo Italian Gusto: If you love a Neapolitan-style pizza, this is the place for you to try!

If you read our Fethiye monthly news updates, you might remember that we mentioned we’d been to Mojo Italian Gusto and loved their pizza.

That was our second visit.

And we’ve been again since!

Three visits to the same place in relatively quick succession surely merits a dedicated post on this blog, don’t you think?

Mojo Italian Gusto

We’d seen Mojo Italian Gusto on Instagram and had commented that the pizzas looked really tempting.

But, as we trudge almost everywhere on foot, and we’re not particularly local to that side of Barış Manço Bulvarı (the pizzeria’s location), we didn’t really think we’d get round to a visit anytime soon.

Indeed, our first visit was a happy accident.

Circ*mstances meant we were nearby, one day. And we were hungry and thinking about where to go.

Barry suddenly remembered ‘that pizza place’ we’d seen.

It was Sunday.

We’d been to the Çalış Sunday market and neglected to go for gözleme in favour of a couple of other places we fancied – neither of which were serving what we fancied on the day.

Simple Interior

So we were two grateful customers when we finally arrived at Mojo to find it not only open but also looking very welcoming and already serving diners.

We sat down at an empty table and were immediately given menus…

It’s a simple, modern interior. We’re not in luxurious restaurant territory, here.

It’s a got a relaxed kitchen-bar vibe.

Somewhere where you can sit and have a few drinks whilst you snack on or indulge in the menu’s offerings.

And, most importantly, the pizza oven is there, on show, just behind the bar.

Order your pizza and watch it being made.

No Pressure

The pizzas on the menu are all the same size. So we asked the owner how big they are and whether we he thought we should order a pizza to share – or have one each.

Of course, that reply could easily have been to recommend that we get one each.

But he told us the pizzas only take a few minutes to cook, so he said why not just order one and then get another if we were still hungry?

So we did. The seafood pizza!

And they really do only take a few minutes to cook.

About 10 minutes later, we were served with our seafood pizza.

Roughly 30 centimetres (12 inches) in diameter and topped with calamari rings, shrimps and slices of red onion, one pizza was enough on that day – especially when washed down with a couple of cold beers.

Back Again

The perfect pizza base for us: A light, thin crisp base with an equally light, puffy crust around the edge.

And for that puffy crust, there is a bottle of chilli oil on each table.

Drizzle that around the edge of your pizza. It just takes things to another level!

As we said, that side of Barış Manço Bulvarı is not particularly local to us. But because we feel comfortable in there and because we loved the pizza and the service so much, we’ve been back twice since then.

Both times, we’ve had one pizza each. But, on our most recent visit, we couldn’t finish everything so the rest came home with us in a pizza box.

We’ve tried four different pizzas from the menu, now, and whilst it might sound a bit boring, my favourite so far is the tuna pizza.

It’s not overloaded with tuna topping or added extras like sweetcorn and olives.

The tomato sauce and the cheese compliment the tuna perfectly so that the tuna does the talking.

And then the only other ingredients are a tiny bit of onion and the huge capers.

We’ve hunted some of the capers down to have in at home because they’re so good!

Not Just Pizza

Whilst primarily a pizza place, there are some other treats on the Mojo Italian Gusto menu.

A small selection of pasta dishes (which look very generous!), salads and snacks to nibble on – such as mozzarella sticks, chips and a beer plate.

Next time we go, we said we’d order one pizza between us and a salad…

But we are creatures of habit so we’re not holding ourselves to that!
